AS this will be the last newsletter for 2017 there will be information that you will need for the Christmas ordering and the date of the AGM.
Unfortunately, our Wednesday manager, Sandra Rose has had to resign due to family health. Along with losing both Janice Anderson and Wendy Taylor last year means we have lost a lot of experience in the rooms. This also means our committee is very low on attendees.
We are presently training Janice Halling, a new volunteer to help cover the loss and I would like to welcome Janice Halling who has also become a committee member.
AGM: This year it will be held on Saturday October 7th at 2.00pm in the Block Arcade complex. Members attending the AGM need to arrive at the Block Arcade through the Elizabeth Street entrance and we will have an attendant at Lift 3 to open the lift between 1.30pm and 2.15pm giving directions to the venue.
If any member could see their way clear to join the committee give the rooms a ring, it is not like a sports club where there are canteen duties among other things that tie you up throughout the season, being a member of the IAV committee means attending around 8 -10 meetings a year on a Wednesday afternoon from 2.30pm for about 2 hours, come and help run an association that has been helping Ostomates for over 60 years.
To operate a Not for Profit Association we need to have an active and full functioning committee.
CHRISTMAS ORDERS: The rooms will be closed from Wed. December 20th until Mon. January 22nd. To ensure you have enough supplies for this time we will require your Christmas (Dec/Jan) order no later than Friday November 24th. I would suggest that you include your Dec/Jan order with your November order as there has been a lot of back order problems lately.
The early Dec/Jan orders that we receive will dispatched early in December with the others to follow.
If you order every month I would suggest you DO NOT get a double order in November.
The preferred method of ordering is: by Email, firstname.lastname@example.org,
by Mail, to PO Box 32, Flinders Lane, Melbourne 8009.
Through the web site, we would rather you use the Email direct as some orders through the web site have not been transmitted to the association.
Medicare does not sanction orders by phone.
NET BANK PAYMENTS: these have increased and it is a much better means of getting payments to us but I would ask you not to forget to either put your membership number or your name as our Crystal Ball does not work and we do not know who has sent the payment.
CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS: due to new regulations in the banking system credit card fees have to be reduced, this will mean our charge will drop from $2.00 to 50cents for each transaction.
60 YEARS OLD: as you will have read in the latest copy of the Ostomy Journal the association was 60 years old in May 2017, this is a long time for an association that has been run purely by volunteers.
To assist you in remembering the two important dates mentioned at the start of the newsletter the following two boxes below are designed to be cut out and either attach to the fridge, your message board or add to your wallet, you could also add the dates into your smart phone or tablet.
